How Prorata Works

Understanding prorated charges when you upgrade.

What is Prorata?

Prorata billing means you only pay for the time you use. When you upgrade mid-cycle, you’re charged for the remaining days in your billing period.

Example

Current plan: Free (monthly) Billing date: 1st of month Upgrade date: 15th of month

You have 15 days remaining in the billing cycle. The prorata charge is:

(Pro monthly price - Free monthly price) × (days remaining / days in month)
= ($49 - $0) × (16 / 31)
= $49 × 0.52
= $25.48

How to Upgrade

  1. Go to Settings → Subscription
  2. Click Upgrade
  3. Select your new plan
  4. Confirm payment method
  5. See the prorata charge before confirming

When You’re Charged

  • Upgrade: Charged immediately for the prorata amount
  • Downgrade: Credits applied to next billing date
  • Renewal: Regular rate on your billing date

Cancellation

If you cancel:

  • Access continues until end of billing period
  • No charges after cancellation
  • You keep access until the period ends
