dotBlast Docs
dotBlast helps teams build live dashboards for the screens people already look at: office TVs, hallway displays, lobby monitors, Raspberry Pi kiosks, and browser-based status boards.
Use these docs to get from a blank account to a running display. Start with your first dashboard, then choose a device path, add integrations, and troubleshoot any display issues with focused guides.
Start here
- Build your first dashboard: create a workspace, add widgets, preview the layout, and render the dashboard on a screen.
- Choose the right display device: compare browser kiosk, dotKiosk, Chromecast, Fire TV, and Raspberry Pi options by budget, setup time, and scale.
- Set up a Raspberry Pi kiosk in 10 minutes: flash the OS, enable kiosk mode, pair the device, and keep the dashboard running after restart.
Build and customize dashboards
Dashboards are made from widgets. Add the content your audience needs, arrange it for the target screen, and test the layout before you put it in a public space.
Common first widgets include calendar, weather, and embedded pages. If you are preparing a shared team display, keep the first version focused: one calendar, one status view, one announcement or iframe, and one weather panel is usually enough to prove the workflow.
Connect integrations
Start with Integrations overview to understand the supported paths:
- Calendar widgets for team schedules and room context.
- Weather widgets for location-aware display content.
- Iframe proxy for approved web pages that need to render inside a dashboard.
Each integration guide explains setup, expected permissions, and the common failure modes to check before opening a support request.
Run dashboards on displays
dotBlast can run in a regular browser, a managed kiosk, dotKiosk, Chromecast, Fire TV, or Raspberry Pi. The best choice depends on whether you need remote management, low hardware cost, unattended restarts, or the fastest possible setup.
If you are testing the product, start with a browser kiosk on a laptop or spare display. If you are rolling out permanent screens, compare the device options before buying hardware.
Troubleshoot display issues
If something is not showing, use the Troubleshooting decision tree. It routes the most common symptoms to the right fix:
- Dashboard does not load.
- Embedded page is blank.
- Device pairing fails.
- Magic link or OTP does not arrive.
- Screen shows stale content after a restart.
When you contact support, include the dashboard name, device type, browser or OS version, and the exact symptom you see on the screen.
